The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) missing from the list.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Friday, Musa Olurode, INEC public relations officer in the state, said candidates from 14 political parties were cleared to contest the election.

The parties include Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Olurode said the publication of the final list was in line with the commission’s timetable and schedule of activities for the election.

He recalled that only 14 political parties successfully conducted their primaries and uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and running mates within the deadline set by INEC.

Last month, the electoral body had indicated that parties that failed to complete the process within the stipulated period would be excluded from the final list for the governorship poll.
