Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW and a close associate as well as logistics manager to Davido, is mourning the death of his father, Mr. Afeare Eric, who passed away at the age of 71.
Gatekeepers News reports that Israel confirmed the development during a telephone conversation on Saturday, explaining that his father died on March 2, 2026, at a hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, after battling a brief illness. According to him, the family had hoped for his recovery but were saddened by the sudden loss.
The late Mr. Afeare Eric was a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police who served in the Nigeria Police Force for several years before leaving active service.
Family members and associates described him as a disciplined officer who devoted much of his life to public service and the welfare of his family.
Reacting to the loss, Israel expressed deep sorrow, noting that his father played a major role in shaping his life and keeping the family closely bonded.
“It is sad losing my father at this time. We still need him with us, but God knows better,” he said.
“He was my pillar of strength and was instrumental in making the family an indivisible unit.”
Israel DMW is well known in Nigeria’s entertainment scene for his close working relationship with Davido and for frequently appearing alongside the singer during concerts, tours and public engagements. Over the years, he has gained attention on social media for his loyalty to the Afrobeats star and his outspoken personality.
The late Mr. Afeare Eric is survived by two wives and eight children. Family sources said funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days as relatives and friends continue to send condolences to Israel and the entire Afeare family.
