Nigerian actress Shaffy Bello has spoken about the reason she chose to have her fallopian tubes tied 26 years ago.
Gatekeepers News reports that the actress made the revelation in a recent episode of her YouTube series What I Know, where she hosted singer Waje and influencer Sisi Yemmie for a discussion on motherhood and parenting.
During the conversation, Bello disclosed that she decided to undergo the procedure because she did not want to have many children. She explained that the decision was intentional and based on the responsibility that comes with raising children.
“I had my tubes tied 26 years ago. For me, I didn’t want a lot of children; I wanted to stop,” she said.
She clarified that the choice was not due to challenges with pregnancy, noting that her concern was more about the lifelong commitment of raising children rather than the nine months of carrying a pregnancy.
“I did it not because of the pregnancy, but because of raising the children. It is not the nine months but the life after,” she said.
Bello further explained that the procedure was carried out through her navel, where doctors performed the operation that prevented the release of eggs needed for conception.
“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” she added.
