DSS Arrests Suspected Gunrunner With 832 Rounds Of ammunition In Cross River

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected gunrunner, Kelvin Ebikeniye Dugo, in Cross River State.

Gatekeepers Newreports that Dugo was apprehended on Monday at Ivara Esu estate in Odukpani Local Government Area following intelligence reports of an arms transaction.

According to sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the arrest followed “credible intelligence” that the suspect planned to purchase 832 rounds of live ammunition from another alleged gunrunner, Azenda Barnabas, also known as Jagaban, based in Aliade, Benue State.

“The operatives intercepted Dugo moments after he received the consignment, which was concealed in food items. Recovered [were] 832 rounds of ammunition and two empty AK-47 magazines,” the publication reported.

The DSS said it has intensified operations against illegal arms trafficking across the country.

“This successful operation is one of many ongoing nationwide efforts, highlighting the DSS’ firm commitment to dismantling gun-running syndicates and curbing illegal arms proliferation,” the source added.
