Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a pastor and his wife after discovering illicit drugs hidden in their vehicle along Seme border corridor in Lagos.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the suspects, Afolabi Hodonu, a 45-year-old cleric of the Celestial Church of Christ, and his 35-year-old wife, Success, were apprehended on April 2 at the Gbaji checkpoint.

The agency said a search of their Honda Pilot SUV led to the recovery of about 11 kilograms of skunk concealed in specially constructed compartments within the vehicle.

Babafemi explained that the arrest followed earlier intelligence operations at the same checkpoint, including the interception of another suspect allegedly transporting 24.5kg of the same substance from the border into Lagos.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives also uncovered an international drug trafficking network attempting to ship cocaine to the United Kingdom.

The agency intercepted over 3kg of cocaine hidden in tins of palm kernel extract at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, leading to multiple arrests and the eventual capture of the syndicate’s alleged leader in Lagos.

The anti-drug agency added that several other raids and seizures were carried out across different states, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking nationwide.
