The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died in Egypt where he was receiving medical treatment.
Gatekeepers News reports that Zuru passed away on Monday evening in Cairo after battling an undisclosed illness. His death was officially confirmed in a statement issued on behalf of the state assembly.
Zuru, who represented the Zuru constituency, was a prominent political figure in Kebbi State and served as Speaker of the 10th Assembly. He was widely regarded as an influential lawmaker within the state’s legislative arm.
Reacting to the development, government officials described his death as a major loss to the state and the country. An aide to the Governor noted that the news came as a shock and assured that more details, including burial arrangements, would be announced after consultations with the family.
