At least 20 people have been killed in fresh attacks by suspected gunmen in Niger State, while several others were reportedly killed in coordinated assaults on communities in Kebbi State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the attack in Niger occurred in Shiroro LGA, where armed assailants stormed villages including Bagna and Erena, operating for hours and overwhelming local security presence. Residents said homes were destroyed and many villagers fled to nearby towns such as Gwada and Zumba to escape the violence.

Police authorities confirmed the incident, noting that gunmen invaded the communities on Tuesday. However, casualty figures remain disputed, with locals reporting higher deaths than initial official confirmations.

In Kebbi State, similar attacks were carried out in communities like Debbe and Shabanda, where suspected bandits reportedly killed several residents and set houses ablaze. The state police command confirmed the attacks but said the exact number of casualties is yet to be determined.

Separate reports indicate the assaults were coordinated and prolonged, forcing residents to abandon their homes amid widespread destruction.
