Ogun State Government is set to arraign the driver of a stationary truck involved in the fatal road crash linked to British-Nigerian boxing star, Anthony Joshua.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to court proceedings reported on Thursday, the state intends to file criminal charges against Abubakar Adamu, the truck driver whose vehicle was parked along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the incident occurred in December 2025.
The development came as the court reviewed ongoing proceedings involving the driver of the Lexus SUV that was conveying Joshua and members of his entourage at the time of the crash. The SUV reportedly collided with the stationary truck, leading to the death of two of Joshua’s close associates while the boxer sustained minor injuries.
The state counsel, D.O. Ogunyomi, informed the court that the prosecution is seeking to consolidate charges against both drivers involved in the accident in order to properly establish responsibility for the fatal collision.
The legal advice from the Ogun State Directorate of Public Prosecutions was also presented during the hearing, with the magistrate granting approval for the consolidation request. The case has since been adjourned to June 2, 2026, for further hearing.
The crash, which occurred near Sagamu on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, has already led to separate legal actions against the SUV driver, who was earlier arraigned on charges including dangerous driving causing death.
Authorities said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are still ongoing as the case continues in court.
