Trainer- Maintenance Systems

Description:
As the MCD Trainer – Maintenance System, you will play a vital role within our Manufacturing Capability Development team, driving the growth of technical competence across our supply chain operations. You will design, implement, and sustain robust maintenance training programs that build technical capability, improve equipment reliability, and support business continuity.
You will lead hands-on training and development initiatives for operators, technicians, and trainee engineers across all plants, ensuring the highest standards in maintenance practices, safety, and operational excellence.
This role combines deep mechanical expertise with a passion for coaching, structured learning, and continuous improvement.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver comprehensive mechanical maintenance training curriculum tailored to plant needs and technical standards.
- Build technical competence of frontline operators, technicians, and trainee engineers through structured classroom and on-the-job training.
- Identify skill gaps across plants using skills matrices and performance data; design and execute plans to bridge these gaps.
- Plan, structure, and supervise trainees’ OJT sessions to ensure practical exposure and competency development.
- Raise purchase requests within budget, coordinate with procurement, and ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
- Provide contingency technical support for fabrication and maintenance activities across plants to reduce downtime.
- Oversee maintenance and operation of SCA training facility and equipment; ensure preventive maintenance and compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Identify and lead cost-effective projects that enhance mechanical systems reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Partner with plant engineering teams to align training programs with operational priorities and business needs.
- Provide coaching and guidance to trainees, fostering a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
- Maintain accurate records of training materials, attendance, assessment results, and performance progress.
- Execute any other tasks assigned by the MCD Manager – Engineering that enhance maintenance
Qualifications and Requirements:
- B.Sc./HND in Mechanical Engineering or any other related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance training (experience within an FMCG environment is an added advantage)
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in mechanical and maintenance systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technical training curriculums
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to engage, coach, and motivate learners
- Strong leadership, people management, and multi-tasking abilities with a result-oriented mindset
- Proven ability to conduct training needs analysis and close skill gaps effectively
- Sound communication skills and practical, hands-on experience with a wide range of bottling or production equipment
- High sense of responsibility, accountability, and dependability
