Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu following her elevation to Nigeria’s minister of foreign affairs.
Gatekeepers News reports that her appointment, announced on Wednesday, sees her move from her previous role as minister of state for foreign affairs to head the ministry, succeeding Yusuf Tuggar.
In a statement, Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the appointment as both an honour and a reflection of the president’s confidence in her capacity to serve.
“I am truly humbled by your trust and confidence in my abilities,” she said.
She pledged to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements by building on the administration’s foreign policy direction, particularly the “4D Foreign Policy Priorities” under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as citizen-focused diplomacy.
“I look forward to contributing even more to the continued success of the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities of the Renewed Hope Agenda, our citizen diplomacy imperatives,” she added.
The new minister also reaffirmed her commitment to promoting and safeguarding Nigeria’s interests globally.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu brings extensive diplomatic experience to the role, having previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain and Ghana, among other international assignments.
