Troops Arrest Suspected Cultist And Armed Gang Member

Troops under Operation UDO KA have arrested a suspected cultist and armed gang member allegedly linked to a series of violent crimes in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the arrest was disclosed on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama through his official X account.

According to security sources cited by Makama, the suspect was apprehended around 12:10 p.m. on May 20 by troops of the 130 Battalion (Rear) stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Amana.

The operation was reportedly carried out following credible intelligence regarding the suspect’s activities in the Baga 2 community in the Utanga area of Obanliku LGA.

Sources said the suspect had allegedly been terrorising residents of the community and was linked to the shooting of his mother as well as an attempted attack on his brother.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspect is believed to be a member of a cult group and part of a notorious armed gang operating within the area.

Items recovered from the suspect included a locally made Dane gun, two mobile phones and a bag containing personal belongings.

Security sources confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and is undergoing further investigation and profiling.

They added that troops under Operation UDO KA have continued intensified operations aimed at dismantling cult-related violence, armed criminal networks and other security threats across border communities in Cross River State.
