Cristiano Ronaldo made football history on Tuesday after becoming the first player to score in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
Gatekeepers News reports that the 41-year-old Portugal captain achieved the feat during his side’s Group K match against Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup in Houston.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the sixth minute, converting a cross from João Cancelo to give Portugal an early lead. He later added a second goal as Portugal cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory. The brace took his World Cup tally to 10 goals, moving him past Portuguese legend Eusébio as the country’s highest scorer in World Cup history.
The goal also ended a lengthy scoring drought for Ronaldo at major international tournaments and reinforced his remarkable longevity at the highest level of football. Having made his World Cup debut in 2006, he has now scored in every edition of the tournament he has played.
Ronaldo already holds the records for the most international appearances and goals in men’s football. His latest milestone adds another chapter to a career widely regarded as one of the greatest in the sport’s history.
The achievement comes just days after Ronaldo became one of the first men to feature in six World Cups, alongside Lionel Messi. However, Ronaldo now stands alone as the only player to have scored in all six tournaments.
