Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will open its Candidate Nomination Portal on June 26, allowing political parties to access the platform ahead of the submission of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to the commission’s timetable, political parties will begin uploading the names and particulars of their candidates from June 27, while the nomination window will close on July 11, 2026.
The portal will enable designated national officers of political parties to submit candidates’ names, personal particulars and other required documents electronically. INEC has warned that the system is fully automated and will shut down automatically once the submission deadline expires.
The commission also urged political parties to ensure their ICT personnel and relevant officials are adequately prepared for the exercise to avoid last-minute challenges.
