Defence Ministry Debunks Reports Claiming Christopher Musa Has Resigned

Federal Ministry of Defence has dismissed reports alleging that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), intends to resign from office, describing the claims as false, malicious and entirely fabricated.

Gatekeepers News reports that tuebministry urged Nigerians to disregard the rumour, insisting that the minister remains fully committed to his responsibilities.

In a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the ministry said the report circulating across online and social media platforms was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. She stressed that there was no truth to the speculation and reaffirmed that Musa had not indicated any intention to step down from his position.

The ministry stated that the Defence Minister remains focused on implementing the Federal Government’s national security agenda and overseeing the country’s defence strategy. It added that Musa is fully dedicated to his mandate, noting that ongoing efforts in the sector are already yielding results.

The ministry also cautioned media organisations and social media users against spreading unverified information, urging them to seek clarification from the minister’s office before publishing reports relating to his office. It reiterated that the public should ignore the resignation rumour as fake news intended to cause unnecessary confusion.
