Ondo State Police Command has arrested four police officers captured in a viral video making what authorities described as “unprofessional and ethnically insensitive” remarks to a motorist during a roadside stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Gatekeepers News reports that the officers are currently in custody while an investigation into the incident is underway. The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed one of the officers making comments perceived as targeting the motorist’s ethnic background, sparking widespread condemnation and renewed concerns about ethnic profiling and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
Confirming the development, the Ondo State Police Command said the officers were swiftly identified and arrested following the public outcry. The command described the conduct displayed in the video as unacceptable and assured Nigerians that disciplinary procedures would be followed in line with police regulations.
The police also reiterated their commitment to professionalism, respect for human rights and impartial policing, urging members of the public to remain law-abiding while assuring that misconduct by officers would not be tolerated.
