Outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, has formally handed over the affairs of the examination body to Prof. Segun Aina after completing his 10-year tenure.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking at the handover ceremony held on Friday at JAMB’s national headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Oloyede reflected on his stewardship, saying the board’s achievements were made possible through collaboration with staff, government officials, security agencies, tertiary institutions and other stakeholders.
He highlighted reforms introduced during his administration, including improvements in staff welfare, technological innovation, transparency and discipline. According to him, JAMB strengthened its computer-based testing system, introduced the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), expanded biometric verification, enhanced staff welfare and maintained strict accountability measures that boosted public confidence in the admissions process.
Oloyede said the institution is now stronger than when he assumed office and expressed confidence that his successor would build on the progress recorded over the past decade.
“As I hand over the leadership of this great institution, I do so with absolute confidence in its future. The Board is blessed with a dedicated workforce, robust institutional systems and an enduring culture of integrity.”
”I have no doubt that under the leadership of my successor, Professor Segun Aina, and with the continued support of Government, the Governing Board, Management, staff and stakeholders, JAMB will continue to attain even greater heights in the service of our nation.”
The outgoing registrar also expressed optimism that Aina’s background in information and communication technology would help drive the next phase of JAMB’s development.
“My belief is that the advantage and vibrancy of his younger age and his ICT expertise would propel the Board to higher heights than previously attained. He can rest assured of my advice if and when it is required.”
While thanking his family, JAMB staff and stakeholders for their support throughout his tenure, Oloyede said he was leaving office with gratitude and confidence in the board’s future.
“Finally, I thank Almighty Allah for the privilege of serving Nigeria through this noble institution. May He continue to guide, protect and bless the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in the faithful discharge of its statutory responsibilities for generations to come.”
