The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has mourned the death of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a true friend and committed political ally.
Gatekeepers News reports that Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and other members of his extended family.
Wike, in a condolence message issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, described Orbih as “a friend indeed” and said his death was painful.
The minister described Orbih’s death as “the fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State,” adding that he would be missed by many.
“I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associate. But we can’t question God, He gives and He takes,” Wike said.
He condoled with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, describing the deceased as “a good friend, a great politician, and a man of faith in the Almighty God.”
“May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
