Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to November 30, 2026.
Gatekeepers News reports that Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s acting director of public affairs and protocol, announced the extension in a statement on Wednesday.
The board said the decision followed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours. The extension is intended to give affected candidates a final opportunity to either accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
JAMB had previously set September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with outstanding offers from the affected admission years.
The board warned that candidates who fail to act by November 30 will no longer be permitted to accept or reject the outstanding offers within the current window. Any subsequent request to update an admission record from the previous years will attract the applicable penalty fee.
JAMB said the intervention is particularly important for candidates whose admission records are not reflected on its matriculation list. Such candidates could face difficulties accessing benefits linked to properly documented admissions, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
Candidates who accept their outstanding offers will be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject the offers will have their CAPS dashboards changed to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records.
The board also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where they received their previous admission, or who are now enrolled in a different programme, may accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the old admission, where applicable.
Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted offer from an earlier admission exercise may reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB further said candidates who have received admission for the 2026 academic session but still have an outstanding offer from an earlier year can reject the previous offer without affecting their 2026 admission.
The board reiterated that all outstanding 2021–2025 admission offers that remain neither accepted nor rejected by November 30 will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” on its records.
