Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal will join a high-level Federal Government delegation to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a leadership exchange and learning visit.
Gatekeepers News reports that the delegation, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be led by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and depart Nigeria on Tuesday ahead of the Nigeria-Ethiopia leadership exchange scheduled for October 7 to 9, 2026.
Other Governors on the delegation are AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Alex Otti of Abia State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Umar Namadi of Jigawa State.
The visit is linked to the Federal Government’s commitment to accelerating sub-national action on nutrition following the launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative (N774) at the 148th National Economic Council meeting.
According to the statement signed by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the Zamfara Governor, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Ethiopia’s Seqota Declaration will serve as a comparative model for the Nigerian delegation.
The initiative was launched by the Ethiopian government in 2015 with a commitment to end stunting among children under two by 2030.
The Seqota Declaration is implemented through a multisectoral programme involving nine government ministries, covering areas including health, agriculture, education, water, finance, women and children, transport, labour and social affairs, and culture and tourism.
The programme operates under a 15-year roadmap divided into three phases: Innovation, Expansion and Scale-Up.
