Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria To Combine Abuja Launch With Charity Activities

The Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria is set to officially launch in Abuja, with its national president, Charles Ojugbana, pledging to transform the football fan experience and expand support for the English Premier League club across the country.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Monday, Ojugbana, a veteran sports journalist and broadcaster, said the newly established non-profit organisation was created to revitalise football followership and strengthen the Nigerian supporter base of Arsenal Football Club.

He said the association draws inspiration from the achievements of Arsenal players of Nigerian descent, both past and present.

“We are drawing inspiration from the exploits of Arsenal players of Nigerian descent past and present, such as Kanu Nwankwo, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze, to raise football fan experience to a level never attained before,” Ojugbana said.

The two-day launch will begin on October 16, 2026, with delegates from state and city chapters converging on Abuja for the club’s second annual general meeting.

Activities will continue on October 17 with morning aerobics and a novelty football match, followed by a sanitation exercise at Wuse Market in the Federal Capital Territory.

As part of the outreach, the club will donate industrial refuse bins and sanitation equipment to the market union’s executive, in line with its charitable objectives.

“The market community outreach initiative is in tandem with the club’s philanthropic and charity objectives that are aimed at providing for the vulnerable, less-privileged, and challenged members of the society,” Ojugbana said.

The launch will culminate in a ceremony on Saturday evening, expected to attract prominent public figures, corporate leaders and celebrity supporters.

Those expected to attend include former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former senator Dino Melaye and former Arsenal striker Kanu Nwankwo.

Ojugbana said the association had adopted a modern governance structure comprising a board of trustees, a National Executive Committee (NEC) and a general assembly, supported by a digital membership database.

He also disclosed that the club planned to launch a major awareness campaign for children living with Down syndrome in March 2027 to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day.

The initiative, he said, would form part of the association’s broader commitment to philanthropy and community development.
