‘He Lacks A Father Figure’ — Sunday Igboho Mocks Makinde

Sunday Adeyemo, the Yoruba activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over his recent stage stunt in Akure, Ondo State, describing the action as disrespectful to President Bola Tinubu.

Gatekeepers News reports that Igboho spoke on Sunday in Ibadan during the launch of his security outfit, codenamed the Iru Ekun Security Network.

The activist warned that he would not hesitate to confront anyone who insulted Tinubu, either directly or indirectly.

“You jumped up like a frog, asking whether Baba Tinubu could jump like that. Can you see that he lacks a father figure?” Igboho said.

He also prayed for the president’s longevity, expressing the hope that future generations would produce a Nigerian president.

“May God grant Baba Tinubu long life and allow us to grow old like him. May God give us a son who will become president of Nigeria,” he said.

Igboho questioned why Tinubu’s age had become a subject of debate over the president’s physical stamina, arguing that younger leaders should show respect for their elders.

“How old is Tinubu compared with the Zambian president that you would jump up and say he could not jump as you did?” he asked.

The activist did not identify the Zambian leader he was referring to. Zambia’s current president, Hakainde Hichilema, is 64 years old, while the country’s first president, Kenneth Kaunda, died in June 2021 at the age of 97.

Igboho further declared his readiness to respond to anyone he considered disrespectful towards Tinubu.

“Tinubu has shown us mercy. So, whoever abuses Tinubu, I will abuse that person in return. I will challenge them and mess them up to a level they never imagined possible,” he said.

BACKGROUND

Makinde sparked discussion on Thursday after jumping off a stage during the South-West town hall meeting of the Makinde/Daura campaign organisation in Akure, Ondo State.

The governor used the demonstration to draw attention to the physical stamina of presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.

Challenging other contenders to perform a similar feat, Makinde told the audience: “If they can do that, vote for them.”

He urged Nigerians to consider the energy and physical demands associated with the presidency when assessing candidates for the 2027 election.

Makinde, however, said he would not make age a central issue in the contest, maintaining that his focus would be on candidates’ stamina and their ability to cope with the demands of the office.
