The Lagos State Police Command says it has uncovered a suspected high-tech indoor cannabis farm at a residential property in the Apapa area of the state, arresting two suspects in connection with the discovery.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the facility was discovered on November 2 following intelligence reports received by police operatives.
She said officers acted on the information and searched the premises, where they uncovered what she described as a sophisticated indoor farming facility.
According to Adebisi, the facility was equipped for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances suspected to be cannabis.
The police identified the arrested suspects as Thomas Razvickas, a 49-year-old Polish national, and James Chisome, a 36-year-old Nigerian.
Both men were reportedly residents of the property where the suspected cannabis farm was discovered.
Adebisi said the suspects were in police custody and had made confessional statements while providing information to assist the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, Tijani Fatai, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, visited the property to inspect the facility and receive a briefing on the investigation.
Fatai urged residents to provide credible information that could assist the police in identifying and apprehending criminal elements across the state.
He assured the public that the command would remain proactive and resolute in its efforts to combat criminal activities and maintain security in Lagos.
