The Nigerian Government has stated that adopting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) can help reduce inflation, which rose to 33.69% in April 2024.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was disclosed by Michael Oluwagbemi, Programme Director of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Oluwagbemi, Nigerians can save between 40% and 50% on petrol costs by switching to CNG.
He emphasized that CNG is not only cheaper but also safer, being 18 times safer than petrol and diesel, and cleaner for the environment.
Additionally, Nigeria can save approximately $2.5 billion by converting one million vehicles to CNG.
