Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo has sworn in ten newly appointed judicial officers in the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the new appointees include four high court judges and a judge of the customary court of appeal.
The Governor, while speaking at Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, on Wednesday, urged the new judges to always uphold the basic tenets of rule of law and protect the dignity of state judiciary.
He also urged them to always dispense justice without fear or favour, adding that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure justice, equity, and fearlessness.
Ododo said, “There must be justice for all because the Judiciary is the last hope of the common man, adding that in the administration of justice, we must just be fair but must be seen done free and fair.”
“As the last hope of the common man, the judiciary owes the society the obligation to be free fair, and just at all times, adding that judiciary is a recipe for anarchy.”
The governor further promised that the principle of separation of power would be fulcrum of his administration, pointing out that as he will not interfere with the decision of judiciary.
He assured the judiciary of adequate logistics to ensure they keep the arms of the government afloat.
Before this, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi expressed gratitude to the Governor for being a judiciary-friendly one.
Justice Majebi added that the process being completed today was initiated by the immediate past Governor of the State, Yahaya Bello who commenced the judges’ nomination.
