JUST IN: Supreme Court Affirms Ododo’s Election as Kogi Governor

Supreme Court has affirmed the victory of Ahmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the five-member panel dismissed the appeal filed by Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate Murtala Ajaka.

The court held that the appeal marked SC/CV/654/2024 was void of merit.

Sadiq Umar, who authored and read the lead judgment, resolved all three issues brought for determination in the appeal against the appellant.

The court also dismissed the appeal filed against the Governor’s victory by Action Alliance (AA) and its candidate, Olayinka Baimoh.

It held that the appeal marked SC/CV/653/2024 was incompetent because the notice was filed outside the 14 days permitted by law.

The court dismissed the appeal and awarded a cost of N5 million against the appellants and in favour of the respondents.
