Oscar-Winning British Actress – Maggie Smith Is Dead

Oscar-winning British actress, Dame Maggie Smith who has acted for more than seventy years is dead.

Gatekeepers News reports that the actress died in a hospital in London at the age of eighty-nine (89) on Friday.

Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, Sons of the actress who acted as Desdemona in the movie ‘Othello’ in 1969 announced her demise through a statement released.

They said, “It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith. She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning.”

“An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end.”

“She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.”

They further thanked everyone for the kind messages and support shown to them.

The deceased who began her acting career in 1952, achieved late-career international fame for her role as acerbic Dowager Countess of Grantham Violet Crawley in the hit television series “Downton Abbey”.

Some of the deceased’s notable roles are ‘The Prime Miss Jean Brodie’, which earned her Academy Award for Best Actress, ‘California Suite’, which earnestly her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Violet Crawley in Downtown Abbey, Professor Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter series and so on.
