Senate has approved President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman for appointment as Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Gatekeepers News reports that the approval follows consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator representing Niger North and immediate past Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello.
While presenting the committee report, Bello said that Usman merited being appointed to head the Hajj commission.
Majority of the lawmakers were satisfied with the report and voted yes when put to vote. His appointment was also confirmed by the Red Chamber.
President Tinubu nominated Usman as NAHCON chairman on August 19, 2024, and requested for the senate’s confirmation through a letter.
