Sowore To Lead Protest Against Judiciary Over Dele Farotimi’s Detention

Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters has asked Nigerians to join a nationwide protest against the judiciary over the prosecution of Dele Farotimi, a human rights activist.

Gatekeepers News reports that Farotimi was arrested by Ekiti police command over alleged defamation and cyberbullying on Tuesday.

The activist had on Monday raised an alarm over plans to abduct and take him to Ekiti after Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) filed a petition.

The activist was remanded by a magistrate court in Ekiti after arraignment on a 16-count charge.

In a post on X on Thursday, Sowore said the protest will begin on December 10 from Afe Babalola Chambers in Lagos, Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja, Police Headquarters in Ekiti, and Kings’ College Campus in London.

He added, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
