Sokoto State Police Command has commenced enforcement of third-party vehicle insurance policy in compliance with the directive of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.
Gatekeepers News reports that DSP Ahmad Rufai, Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) revealed this in a statement on Saturday.
The state Commissioner of Police, (CP) Ahmed Musabhas instructed officers involved in the enforcement to maintain professionalism and integrity.
The CP warned that any misconduct or abuse of power by police personnel would result in severe disciplinary action.
He urged vehicle owners in Sokoto State to ensure their insurance documents are up to date to avoid legal consequences.
He added that to ensure effective implementation, the enforcement team consists of, “the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the Officer in charge of the State Motorpol and Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs) across the metropolitan area”.
The state police command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring road safety while calling on Motorists to comply with insurance policy to avoid penalties.
