US tariffs on Canada will be paused for 30 days.
Gatekeepers News reports that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday after a call with President Donald Trump in which Trudeau pledged stronger border measures to stop crossings of migrants and illicit drugs.
“I just had a good call with President Trump,” Trudeau said on X, adding that Canada would deploy nearly 10,000 frontline officers to help secure the border, list drug cartels as terrorists, appoint a “Fentanyl Czar” and crack down on money laundering.
Meanwhile, Trump is also delaying tariffs on Mexican imports, after the neighbouring country agreed to send 10,000 troops to the border to stem the flow of illegal drugs
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum says the agreement also includes a commitment from the US to limit the flow of guns from America into Mexico
Earlier, the US president warned he would also impose trade tariffs on the EU, but suggested a deal could “be worked out” with the UK.
