President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written to the National Assembly for increment of 2025 budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.
Gatekeepers News reports that Tinubu made the demand in a separate letter to the Senate and House of Representatives which were read during plenary on Wednesday.
The President said the increase was driven by N1.4 trillion in additional revenue from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigerian Customs Service, and N1.8 generated by other government agencies.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, referred the request to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for urgent consideration following the announcement of the increment.
He said the budget would be finalised and passed before the end of February.
