Man Who Drove Car Into Vancouver Festival Crowd Charged For Murder

A man identified as Kai-Ji Adam Lo who rammed an SUV through a crowd at Vancouver’s Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party on Saturday evening, has been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder.

Gatekeepers News reports that about eleven people were killed and more than twenty were injured in the tragic accident which occurred two days before Canada’s 2025 federal election.

Eyewitnesses described the vehicle mounting the curb and accelerating through festival-goers around 8:14 p.m. local time near East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street, sending victims flying and scattering bodies across the street.

Following the accident, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and British Columbia Premier David Eby attended a memorial held near the scene.

Hundreds gathered at a park overlooking Vancouver’s North Shore Mountains to honour the victims. They listened to a Coast Salish First Nation prayer and speeches from Filipino community leaders.

A vigil was also held at St Mary the Virgin Church in Vancouver on Saturday evening, where the community mourned the loss of life and stood in support of the victims and their families.
