House of Reps Passes 2025 FCT Budget

The House of Representatives has passed the
N1.81 trillion 2025 appropriation bill for federal capital territory (FCT).

Gatekeepers News reports that the bill passed its third reading during plenary on Wednesday, 28 May 2025. It has also passed the second reading at the Senate.

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu transmitted the budget proposal 1.78 trillion to the national assembly and the lawmakers later raised the figure by ₦30 billion.

Speaking during budget defence on May 21, Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, revealed that over 72 percent of the budget—₦1.28 trillion—was allocated to capital expenditure, while ₦494.1 billion would go toward recurrent costs.

Wike said Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) would oversee road construction in the city centre and satellite towns. Key projects include works in Guzape, Wuye, and Maitama.

He added, “Also for completion are the construction of Northern Parkway from Ring Road II to Ring Road Ill (6.2Km), full scope development of Arterial road N20 from Arterial road N5, and rehabilitation of Old Keffi road.”

“The full scope development of Arterial road N1 from Wuye district to Ring Road II, and the provision of access road to bus terminals in FCT would also be completed.”

The minister also listed other major projects such as the dualisation and upgrading of the Ushafa-War College/Army Checkpoint Road, construction of Pai-Gomani Road in Kwali Area Council, and dualisation of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road.
