Wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, Nana Shettima, on Tuesday stressed the strong cultural connections between Nigeria and Brazil emphasizing that geographical distance is no barrier to enhanced cultural cooperation.
Gatekeepers News reports that Mrs. Shettima stated that both nations have a lot to benefit from each other, being culturally connected nations and united by shared values and traditions.
The Wife of the Vice President disclosed this while while receiving Maria Lucia Alckmin, the Second Lady of Brazil, who is in Nigeria on an official visit with her husband, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.
Hajja Nana Shettima commended her Brazilian counterpart for her wemen- focused initiative and urge her to maintain the momentum pointing out that similarities between both nations are enormous.
“Nigeria and Brazil are both known for their warmth, resilience, vibrant music—Afrobeats and Samba—love of football, and colourful festivals,” Nana Shettima said.
She wished Mrs. Alckmin a memorable stay in Nigeria and hoped the visit would leave her with lasting impressions of Nigerian hospitality.
The Brazilian delegation is in Abuja for the Second Session of the Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
Vice President Alckmin and his wife were welcomed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport earlier today. During the visit, both nations are expected to sign more than 30 agreements covering key sectors such as defence, agriculture, energy, and cultural exchange.
According to Mrs. Lucia Alckmin, her women-focused initiative, launched in 2001, has transformed lives through a bread-making project.
“The program has supported over 100,000 disadvantaged women in 17 Brazilian states and aims to reach more communities nationwide.” She said .
