Abakaliki FC’s Bus Crashes On Return To Ebonyi After Federation Cup Defeat

Officials of Abakaliki FC were involved in a minor road accident on Sunday while returning to Ebonyi State following their loss in the President Federation Cup final.

Gatekeepers News reports that the club had lost 4-3 on penalties to Kwara United in the final held in Lagos on Saturday.

In a statement shared on their official Facebook page, the club confirmed that one of their official buses was involved in the incident along the Benin-Ore expressway.

According to the statement, the accident occurred near Ondo when the bus reportedly suffered brake failure and collided with a moving truck.

The club noted that no injuries or fatalities were recorded, and expressed gratitude for the safety of everyone onboard. Photos shared by the club showed only minor damage to the vehicle involved.

The statement reads, “On our way back from Lagos after our yesterday’s president federation cup finals to Ebonyi State today (29/6/2025) one of our vehicles (official’s bus) failed brake along Ondo express high way and hit a moving truck at the back.”
