Spanish authorities believe excessive speed was likely involved in the motorway crash that killed Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva.
Gatekeepers News reports that the accident occurred last Thursday as the brothers traveled toward the port of Santander.
The funeral was held over the weekend in their hometown of Gondomar, near Porto.
The crash occurred just 11 days after Jota married his longtime partner whom he had three children, Rute Cardoso.
According to the Guardia Civil, early findings suggest Jota was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini when it veered off the A52 motorway near Palacios de Sanabria in northwestern Spain and caught fire, possibly after a tyre blowout.
Traffic police noted visible tyre marks and said preliminary tests point to speeding as a contributing factor.
Investigators added that the condition of the road was not considered hazardous and could handle speeds beyond the posted 120 km/h limit.
