Adams Oshiomhole, Senator representing Edo North, has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to investigate the administration of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
Gatekeepers News reports that Oshiomhole made this call at an event celebrating the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming Okpebholo’s election victory.
The senator specifically highlighted the Radisson Hotel project initiated under Obaseki’s leadership, questioning the handling of funds and ownership structure.
“You now have time to look into that hotel where Edo state money in tens of billions of dollars was taken… And now we are told Edo is a minority shareholder,” Oshiomhole said.
Oshiomhole also criticized the condition of roads built during Obaseki’s tenure, comparing them unfavorably to those constructed under his administration.
“You now have time to revisit all the roads that were built and washed up, compared to the ones I did, which are still there,” he stated.
The senator challenged Obaseki to return to Edo and face questions about his administration’s projects.
“So by the time your Excellency now has time for the second rematch, Obaseki will have to come out from hiding to answer to those questions. We have come to rescue Edo, but to rescue means you must also investigate,” Oshiomhole emphasised.
In contrast, Oshiomhole praised Okpebholo’s administration for bringing unity to the state.
“Governor Monday, what God has put to stand, no man can bring down. And when He gives you a job, He will not give you luggage that your neck cannot bear,” he said, highlighting the importance of unity in Edo State.
