Arsenal Sign Swedish Striker – Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal have completed the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon on a long-term deal.

Gatekeepers News reports that the 27-year-old footballer joins the Gunners after a highly productive run at Sporting Lisbon, where he scored an impressive 97 goals in 102 appearances.

Gyokeres played a pivotal role in Sporting’s back-to-back Primeira Liga title wins, also lifting a domestic cup and finishing as the league’s top scorer in both seasons.

On the international stage, the prolific forward has been equally impressive, scoring 12 goals in his last 17 matches for Sweden.

Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta praised the signing saying, “We are so pleased with the excellent deal we have completed to bring Viktor Gyökeres to the club.”

“Viktor is an exceptional talent and has consistently demonstrated he has the qualities and winning mentality required of a top-level centre-forward. His physicality, intelligence and work ethic make him a perfect fit for our vision.”

Gyökeres will wear the number 14 shirt at Arsenal and is set to join the team immediately for the men’s pre-season tour in Asia.

Gyokeres was born in Stockholm. He began his career at IF Brommapojkarna, rising through the youth ranks and making his senior debut at just 17.

He later moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2018, and had loan stints at Swansea City, St. Pauli, and Coventry City, eventually signing permanently with the Sky Blues and helping them reach the Championship play-off final in 2023.
