The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 63-year-old woman, identified as Ngozi Muotuanya, over alleged involvement in an interstate child trafficking syndicate.
Gatekeepers News reports that her arrest on August 11 followed credible intelligence linking her to the theft of a one-year-old boy in Minna, Niger State, in 2024.
Investigations revealed that the child was sold to a buyer in Anambra and later resold to another individual, who eventually returned him after learning he had been stolen.
Subsequently, Muotuanya allegedly abandoned the boy at an unidentified church in Minna, where he was rescued by the leader of the local Igbo community.
Details about the child’s current location have been shared with the Niger State Police Command to facilitate his recovery and reunification with his parents.
The suspect is to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation and prosecution.
