Security forces have arrested two senior leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group, identified as key masterminds behind the 2022 Kuje prison break in Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu announced this while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday.
Ribadu said the suspects were captured during an intelligence-driven operation conducted between May and July. He described the mission as a major blow that “decapitated the leadership” of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated group.
He noted that the arrested leaders had been on Nigeria’s most-wanted list for several years.
