Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four of its members for six months over their alleged attempts to impeach the Speaker, Aondona Dajoh.
Gatekeepers News reports that the suspended lawmakers include Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Terna Shimawua (Kian state constituency), Cyril Ekong (Obi state constituency) and James Umoru (Apa state constituency).
The suspension followed a motion of urgent importance moved by the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, who accused the lawmakers of attempting to unsettle the assembly with a needless crisis.
After the motion was moved, the Speaker directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort the suspended lawmakers out of the chamber.
Speaker Dajoh further appointed Audu Elias as the new spokesperson of the House, replacing suspended Alfred Berger.
