NCAA Schedules Meeting With Domestic Airlines On Passenger Conduct – Refunds For Wednesday

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called for a meeting with domestic airline operators in Abuja on Wednesday to deliberate on pressing industry concerns.

Gatekeepers News reports that Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, disclosed the development in a post on X on Tuesday.

Achimugu said the engagement will be broadcast live on the authority’s official social media platforms.

According to him, discussions will centre on unruly passenger behaviour, passenger handling procedures, outstanding refund and compensation cases, and the planned introduction of radio frequency identification (RFID) bagtags alongside flight monitoring technology.

The statement reads, “The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday.”

“Among the issues to be treated are unruly passenger behaviour and passenger handling protocols, unresolved refund/compensation issues, introduction of RFID bagtags and flight monitoring technology, enforcement of phone switch-off instruction and protection for cabin crew, and improved travel experience for passengers.”

“The meeting will be live on the NCAA’s official social media handles (X and Facebook). To keep abreast, kindly follow @NigeriaCAA.”

The panned meeting comes just two days after Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, instructed the NCAA to start exposing airlines that breach aviation regulations.
