Daniel Bwala, special adviser on policy communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, has every right to contest for political office.

Gatekeepers News reports that speculations have continued to circulate that Seyi Tinubu may join the Lagos governorship race in 2027, though he has not made any formal announcement.

Speaking on The Clarity Zone Podcast, Bwala dismissed claims that Seyi’s philanthropic activities are tied to political ambitions, insisting that such assumptions amount to blackmail.

He said, “For political reasons, some people assume that because he’s doing a lot of welfare, which he didn’t even start yesterday, it means he wants to become a Governor.”

“I asked, is he not qualified to be a governor? They said no, because his father is a president.”

The presidential aide stressed that Seyi has not declared any political ambition but should not be denied the opportunity because of his family background.

Bwala added, “He has not said he is running, but even if his father is president, what stops him from contesting as governor? He can even challenge his father in a presidential election.”

He further described Seyi as unassuming and grounded, noting that he has not changed his community or friends because of greatness, so to speak.
