WhatsApp has unveiled a new translation tool that allows its users to seamlessly translate messages across multiple languages.
Gatekeepers News reports that the feature, which the company announced in a statement on Tuesday, is aimed at breaking communication barriers on the platform.
WhatsApp stated, “If you see a message in a different language, you can now simply long-press and tap ‘Translate’. Choose the language you want the message to be translated from or to, and download it to be saved for future translations.”
The company explained that the tool works across personal chats, group conversations, and channel updates.
Android users also have the option of activating automatic translation for entire chats, ensuring that all incoming messages are instantly converted into their preferred language.
The update is being introduced gradually across selected languages on both iOS and Android devices.
The platform said, “Android users will find it available in six languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. For our iPhone users, the feature will launch in 19+ languages.”
WhatsApp noted that the new functionality was built with user privacy protections in mind.
