Oscar Ibru, billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has died at the age of 67.
Gatekeepers News reports that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed profound grief over Ibru’s passing in a statement on Wednesday.
The Governor described his demise as a monumental loss to the Urhobo nation and Nigeria as a whole, and praised his lasting contributions to commerce, social development, and hospitality.
Ge said, “The late Chief Oscar Ibru, heir of the Michael Ibru dynasty, lived a life of service, hard work, and philanthropy.”
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I offer heartfelt condolences to the Ibru family, the Urhobo nation, and indeed the entire country over the passing of Olorogun Oscar Ibru. He was a remarkable son of Delta whose impact in business and philanthropy will never be forgotten.”
Oscar Ibru, one of the most prominent heirs of the Ibru dynasty, hailed from Ughelli North LGA in Delta State. He played a pivotal role in strengthening and expanding the family conglomerate established by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru.
His death comes nearly a decade after the passing of the family patriarch, Michael Ibru, in 2016.
