Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has been honoured with three international awards at the 2025 Global Power Forum in New York, held on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued Friday in Awka, the governor’s press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, said Soludo received the African Public Service Excellence Award, the African Governor of the Year Award, and a Certificate of Special Recognition from the South Carolina House of Representatives in the United States.
Aburime noted that the honours highlight Soludo’s leadership record and Anambra’s growing international profile.
“The South Carolina House of Representatives commended Gov. Soludo for his outstanding career and service,” Aburime said. “His citation highlighted his professional journey as a renowned professor of economics, former Chief Economic Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
The citation further recognised Soludo’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s financial system and helping to position the country as a leading economic force in Africa.
At the forum, the Anambra governor delivered a keynote address titled “Africa Unleashed: Navigating the Disruptions, Enhancing Opportunities; The Anambra State Example.” He outlined reforms and initiatives currently underway in the state, which he said are aimed at transforming Anambra into a hub of innovation and sustainable development for Africa and the Caribbean.
