Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned public universities yet to begin their 2025 admission processes to do so immediately or risk losing their prospective students.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Friday, the board said the warning followed the resolutions reached during the 2025 policy meeting on admissions, held on July 18 under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
According to JAMB, all public universities were expected to submit their first-choice admission recommendations by September 30, while private institutions were given until October 31.
The 2025 admission exercise is scheduled to officially close on October 31 for public universities and November 30 for private ones. Polytechnics and colleges of education are to conclude their admissions by December 31.
JAMB stated, “These timelines were designed to ensure a structured and predictable academic calendar across all institutions and to allow every tier of tertiary education to conduct its admission process seamlessly.”
The board, however, lamented that some public universities have failed to submit any admission recommendations on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) despite the deadlines.
Institutions affected include Northwest University, Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, University of Science and Technology Wudil, Benue State University, and Abdulkadir Kure University.
Others are Nigerian Defence Academy, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua.
JAMB urged these universities to commence their 2025 admissions without further delay, warning that failure to comply within the set timelines would lead to unprocessed candidates being transferred to other available institutions.
