Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers in Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
Gatekeepers News reports that according to the force, the move is aimed at improving operational efficiency, decision-making, and readiness in tackling Nigeria’s evolving security threats.
In a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the latest postings affect several key commands, directorates, and operational units nationwide.
The statement described the exercise as a strategic effort to strengthen leadership balance and enhance institutional performance.
Among those affected is Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi, who now serves as Chief of Policy and Plans. AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun was appointed Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, while AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye assumes duties as Group Managing Director of the NAF Investment Limited (NAFIL) Group of Companies.
Other key appointments include AVM Precious Amadi as Chief of Operations, AVM Nnamdi Ananaba as Chief of Air Intelligence, and AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe as Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation. AVM Ahmed Dari was named Chief of Training, while AVM Mohammed Ibrahim now heads the Transformation and Innovation Branch, underscoring the force’s renewed focus on technology-driven operations.
In the logistics and engineering directorates, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina has been appointed Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Michael Onyebashi now serves as Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok will oversee Communication and Information Systems, while AVM John Ukeh becomes Air Provost Marshal.
Additionally, AVM Simon Peter assumes the role of Managing Director, NAFIL Housing and Construction Company, and AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka has been appointed Air Secretary. AVM Anthony Martins was named Chief of Administration, and AVM Abubakar Sule takes charge as AOC, Logistics Command.
The redeployment also affects AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun, who now heads NAF Farms, and AVM Edward Gabkwet, who becomes Chief of Civil-Military Relations. AVM Osichinaka Ubadike was appointed Deputy Commandant of AFIT.
Others redeployed include AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe, who have been assigned to various defence and inter-service institutions.
Ejodame said the shake-up reflects the Air Chief’s commitment to consolidating recent gains and promoting a smarter, more adaptive Air Force.
The statement added, “With this new wave of appointments, the Nigerian Air Force is poised to consolidate its achievements and usher in an era of smarter, more adaptive air operations.”
“It is a force built not merely for power, but for purpose, protection, and progress.”
The redeployment comes a day after the Nigerian Army reassigned 60 major generals and 11 brigadier generals in its own large-scale reorganisation across formations and units.
