Alleged Christian Genocide: Tinubu Well Ahead Of U.S. Moves— Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga

The presidency has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already taken steps to confront mounting security threats in the country.

Gatekeepers News reports that Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, said the president was well ahead of the orchestrated game unfolding in America.

Onanuga made the comment on X after U.S. actions and proposals targeting Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians gained momentum.

He highlighted Tinubu’s recent overhaul of the nation’s military leadership and the president’s blunt instructions to the new service chiefs as evidence that Abuja is prepared to tackle violence at home.

Onanuga wrote, “President Bola Tinubu was well ahead of the orchestrated game unfolding in America as he told the new service chiefs on Thursday what Nigerians expect of them. No more excuses, he said. Nigerians want results”, highlighting the administration’s push for a more proactive, technology-led security response.

The remarks come amid a surge of diplomatic pressure from some U.S. quarters. Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump has redesignated Nigeria as a country of particular concern over claims of widespread persecution of Christians and warned of possible U.S. measures unless Abuja acts.

The Nigeria presidency and its allies framed the U.S. moves as politically driven and cautioned against external pressure that could inflame tensions.

Onanuga and other officials emphasised that Tinubu has charged the military to be innovative, pre-emptive, and courageous and to make use of technology in operations.
