President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has administered the oath of office to Bernard Doro and Kingsley Udeh as new ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that the swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House on Thursday, shortly before the commencement of Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by the president.
Among those in attendance at the meeting were Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume; Head of the Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; and several other cabinet members.
Bernard Doro, from Plateau State, has been appointed as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, succeeding Nentawe Yilwatda, who resigned from the position to assume the role of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Senate confirmed Doro’s appointment in late October.
Kingsley Udeh now takes charge as the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology, replacing Uche Nnaji, who stepped down following allegations of certificate forgery. Udeh’s nomination was screened and approved by the Senate earlier on Thursday. Before his new appointment, he served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State.
During the FEC session, members paused to observe a minute of silence in honour of the late Solomon Ewuga, a former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Olusegun Obasanjo. Ewuga had also served as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator representing Nasarawa North, and later as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Angola under President Goodluck Jonathan.
The council also paid tribute to Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba, a former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who passed away at the age of 86.
